Grow New Brain Cells With Lion’s Mane (Neurogenesis)

For thousands of years, Lion’s Mane has been prominent in traditional Chinese medicine. Lion’s Mane is a medicinal mushroom with a wide array of health benefits for the brain, heart, and gut. In the past, it was believed the growth of new brain cells was impossible once the adult brain has fully developed. That idea has since been proven a misconception.

With the help of nature’s medicines, such as Lion’s Mane, the regeneration of brain cells is possible. Lion’s Mane serves as a powerful nootropic for brain optimization as it stimulates Neurogenesis through the repair and creation of neurons.

Medicinal Benefits of Lion’s Mane:

  • Improves memory and cognition
  • Increases focus
  • Promotes nerve regeneration
  • Stimulates repair and creation of neurons
  • Eliminates brain fog
  • Protects against diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Dementia, and Parkinson’s disease
  • Reduces anxiety and depression symptoms
  • Reduces risk of heart disease
  • Reduces inflammation

Through a study observing Lion’s Mane’s effect on rats with severe nerve damage, researches reported the rats went from being completely disabled to walking again.

If the benefits are not already enough for Lion’s Mane to be considered the perfect nootropic, Lion’s Mane is also non-toxic.

Lion’s mane seems too good to be true. How can a mushroom have so many positive benefits and virtually no bad side effects?

Nature provides. Everything we truly need for our health and well-being is provided in nature. Indigenous cultures know this. Lion’s Mane is said to have been used by Buddhist monks for thousands of years for increased focus during meditation. Our western cultural separation from nature has convinced us we have evolved beyond it, but the reality is, we are an extension of nature that has forgotten its roots.

My Experience

As a child, I was diagnosed with ADD and prescribed pharmaceuticals. The pills helped me focus and excel in school, but at a severe cost. I was constantly anxious, depressed, and paranoid; I hardly ate, and I could never sleep.

I finally got off the pills once I experienced severe chest pain and heart palpitations on a regular basis. I was off the pills, but the brain fog and inability to focus quickly returned. It wasn’t until my mid-twenties that I was able to regain focus through changes in my lifestyle.

After years of trial and error, I have been able to heighten my focus to its peak, thus far, through holistic lifestyle tactics such as meditation, minimalism, a healthy diet, and natural supplements. I’m not intending to brag, but rather share my personal journey that led me to Lion’s Mane.

I have been using Lion’s Mane for a few years now. After experimenting with different nootropics, I have found Lion’s Mane to be the most beneficial supplement for my focus. It is an accumulation of lifestyle choices that have helped me overcome my ADD, but Lion’s Mane has been an immense contributing factor. Lion’s Mane might not be a be-all end-all nootropic for a perfect brain, but the vast benefits and absence of side-effects make it a perfect addition to a healthy lifestyle.

I have experimented with about 6 different brands of Lion’s Mane over the past few years. These have been my favorite brands I find myself a returning customer to:

Host Defense

Host Defense is a company founded by the legendary mycologist Paul Stamets. The company is committed to being 10x climate positive (offsetting emissions by 10 times). They use only the best ingredients grown organically in the US. After experimenting with different Lion’s Mane supplements, this is among my favorites.

Mushroom Wisdom

Mushroom Wisdom was the first Lion’s Mane product I tried that made me fall in love with the Mushroom. After several years, its impact on my focus and cognition has been proven itself tried-and-true. I constantly find myself returning back to Mushroom Wisdom.

I am constantly experimenting with new supplements, and my perspective is always expanding. I will give a more in-depth review of more Lion’s Mane supplements later on. Thanks for reading!
