Our western cultural separation from nature has convinced us we have evolved beyond it, but the reality is, we are an extension of nature that has forgotten its roots.
As a child, I was diagnosed with ADD and prescribed pharmaceuticals. The pills helped me focus and excel in school, but at a severe cost. I was constantly anxious, depressed, and paranoid; I hardly ate, and I could never sleep.
I finally got off the pills once I experienced severe chest pain and heart palpitations on a regular basis. I was off the pills, but the brain fog and inability to focus quickly returned. It wasn’t until my mid-twenties that I was able to regain focus through changes in my lifestyle.
